RULES FOR THE SHOOTING RATINGS: 1. All Handlers are personally responsible for the control of their dogs at all times and shall be personally liable for any claims which may be made in respect of injuries which may arise or be caused by their dogs. All persons attending the trials must consider themselves absolutely under the control of the Officials. 2. Bitches in season within the precincts of the Shooting Ratings are forbidden. 3. Castrated dogs and spayed bitches are eligible for entry. 4. Only those dogs actually taking part in the current test being judged are allowed at the test. 5. The Regulations relating to licensing and to all other matters to do with Field Trials as set in Schedule 3 (Championship Breed Shows) and Schedule 4 (Non-Championship Breed Shows) of the Constitution of the Kennel Union of Southern Africa shall apply to Field Trials so far as they can be relevant to Field Trials and so far as they do not conflict with the specific terms of Schedule 5C(4). A copy of the rules will be available at the Ratings. 6. Anyone on the venue at a Trial openly impugning the decision of a Judge or Judges shall render himself liable to be reported to KUSA under the provisions of KUSA Schedule 1. 7. Conditions attracting immediate disqualification are set out in Regulation 31 of Schedule 3 of KUSA Regulations for Championship Shows (with exception of clauses 31.3.4, 31.3.6 and 31.3.14). 8. If the club considers the weather and/or venue unfit for the holding of the Shooting Ratings, the meeting may be held at a different venue or date. If the Shooting Ratings should be cancelled, entry fees will be refunded. 9. The Field Trial Committee reserves the right to change the advertised venue of the Shooting Ratings if this becomes necessary due to fire, flooding, etc, at the time of the event. KUSA must be informed on the first working day after the Shooting Ratings 10. If an advertised Judge is prevented from filling his/her engagement for either the whole or part of the Shooting Ratings the Field Trial Committee shall have the right to appoint another Judge. 11. JUDGES HAVE FINAL DECISION. Where the Rule or Guide does not cover a particular situation, the decision will remain with the appointed Judges on the day. DEFINITION OF THE TESTS: • Novice Shooting Dog (NSD) is open to all young or untrained inexperienced dogs to determine if they have hunting aptitudes. • Shooting Dog (SD) is open to all dogs of any age that have met the minimum requirements of the Novice Shooting Dog, and must have hunting ability, bird sense and show some field training. • Shooting Dog Excellent (SDX) is open to all dogs of any age that have met the minimum requirements of the Novice Shooting Dog and the Shooting Dog tests and must give a polished and finished performance showing both class and style. • Novice Retrieving Dog (NRD) is open to any dog of any age that has met the minimum requirements of the Novice Shooting Dog test. • Retrieving Dog (RD) is open to any dog of any age that has met the minimum requirements of the Novice Retrieving dog test. • Retrieving Dog Excellent (RDX) is open to any dog of any age that has met the minimum requirements of the Novice Retrieving Dog and the Retrieving Dog tests. DEFINITION OF THE TESTS: • SA-Derby Test (SA-D) Is for Dogs from five (5) months and not exceeding eighteen (18) months of age, dating from and inclusive of the date of its birth on the first day of the test. It is a young dog natural ability test. • SA-Novice Test (SA-N) Is for Dogs from five (5) months of age without restriction as to upper age. The SA-Novice Test is an introductory versatile test for novice dogs and/or handlers. • SA-Older Dog Elite Test (SA-AZP) Is designed for Dogs from two (2) years of age and up to six (6) years of age. However, dogs under the age of two (2) are eligible to enter the test but will receive a specific designation of “Youth” (Y) if passed. The SA-AZP is an advanced ability and performance test.

Only Members of the Kennel Union shall be entitled to enter dogs in their registered ownership in any Versatile Tests in any field trial licensed by the Kennel Union. CATERING: Please bring your own lunch, drinks, chair and enough water for your dog. Make sure that enough precaution against ticks have been taken
