DERBY STAKE is open only to dogs which are not more than twenty-four (24) months of age on the date the Trial is being run. The dog remains a Derby candidate for that season, irrespective of the prizes won. MAIDEN STAKE is confined to dogs which have not been placed first, second or third in a previous Maiden, Brace, Open or Championship Stake at a Field Trial for HPR breeds prior to the date of closing of entries. OPEN STAKE is open to all HPR breeds without restriction as to age or previous performance. In order for an Open Stake to carry Championship (qualification) status, the minimum number of dogs to actually participate in the Stake shall be fourteen (14). The Draw will take place on Mooivallei Lodge, Swartruggens Road, Melrose, Rustenburg, North West Province, on 21st June 2023 at 18H00. PRIZES: Floating Trophies and Certificates to winners of Stakes. Medals and Certificates for placings. Certificate of Merit and other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of Judges and Gunners. CATERING: Meals in the form of light breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be on sale for Competitors and their handlers/ spouses. Please provide your own liquid refreshments. The meal request form will be sent out under separate cover. RULES FOR THE FIELD TRIALS: 1. All Handlers are personally responsible for the control of their dogs at all times and shall be personally liable for any claims which may be made in respect of injuries that may arise or be caused by their dogs. All persons attending the Trials must consider themselves absolutely under the control of the Officials. 2. All dogs must be registered with KUSA before entry. Bitches in season within the precincts of the Trial are forbidden. 3. Castrated dogs and spayed bitches are eligible for entry. 4. The Regulations relating to licensing and to all other matters to do with Field Trials as set in Schedule 3 (Championship Breed Shows) and Schedule 4 (Non-Championship Breed Shows) of the Constitution of the Kennel Union of Southern Africa shall apply to Field Trials, so far as they can be relevant to Field Trials and so far as they do not conflict with the specific terms of this Schedule 5C(3). A copy of the rules will be available at the trials. 5. Anyone on the venue at a Trial openly impugning the decision of a Judge or Judges shall render himself liable to be reported to KUSA under the provisions of KUSA Schedule 1 unless he is availing himself of Regulation 1.9.3 of Schedule 5C(3). 6. Conditions attracting immediate disqualification are set out in Regulation 31 of Schedule 3 of KUSA Regulations for Championship Shows (with the exception of clauses 31.3.4, 31.3.6 and 31.3.14). 7. If the Club considers the weather and/or venue unfit for the holding of a Trial, the meeting may be held at a different venue or postponed from day to day until the end of the week, when the stakes that are not decided upon may be abandoned and the entry fees refunded, or a fresh draw may be made, and a fresh date fixed for the abandoned stakes. 8. The Field Trial Committee reserves the right to change the advertised venue of the Trials if this becomes necessary due to fire, flooding, etc., at the time of the event. KUSA must be informed on the first working day after the field trials 9. If an advertised Judge is prevented from filling his engagement for either the whole or part of the field trial, the Field Trial Committee shall have the right to appoint another Judge. 10. All dogs born on or after 1st September 2010 must have a microchip certificate. 11. JUDGES HAVE FINAL DECISION. Where the Rule or Guide does not cover a particular situation, the decision will remain with the appointed Judges on the day. DEFINITION OF THE STAKES: 1. Open to Purebred HPR Gundogs registered with KUSA. Other Gundog breeds may enter the above stakes but cannot be placed or receive points. Only Members of the Kennel Union shall be entitled to enter dogs in their registered ownership in any Open, Championship or FQ Stake in any field trial licensed by the Kennel Union. KUSA must be informed on the first working day after the field trials LIABILITY: The Committee will exercise all reasonable care in conducting the trials, but it must be clearly understood that, due to the nature of the sport, competitors, spectators, and officials are invited to enter at their own risk and, in so doing, absolve the Club, Committee and Landowners from any claim whatsoever arising from loss or damage by, or to, any person or property during the course of the trials.
