DEFINITION OF THE NATURAL ABILITY TEST: The NAB Test is open to all gundog breeds without restriction as to age. However, only KUSA-recognised HPR breeds will be awarded a KUSA Natural Ability Certificate upon successful completion. Dogs that have previously entered this Test twice are not eligible for entry. DEFINITION OF THE VERSATILE TEST – SA-DERBY: The SA-Derby is open to all KUSA-registered pointing gundog breeds as defined in A.3.2.1 to A.3.2.8 of Schedule 5C (6). Other gundog breeds registered with KUSA may enter at the discretion of the Club's Management Committee holding the Test but cannot receive a Prize Classification in the Test. Dogs may enter from five (5) months of age until and including the day they reach eighteen (18) months. A dog may not be tested more than twice in the same type of Versatile Test. This rule does not apply when the handler misses the Test for reasons for which he is not responsible. Subsequent or previous participation in international tests does not count. DEFINITION OF THE SPANIEL STAKES: 1. Puppy Stake is for Dogs from six months and not exceeding twelve months of age, dating from and inclusive of the date of its birth on the first day of the Trial. 2. Junior Stake is for dogs aged six months to 24 months. As there isn’t a Maiden Stake for Spaniels, older dogs that are not ready for the Novice stake can run in the Junior test but cannot achieve a placing (1 – 4 places). Older dogs can achieve a Certificate of Merit (COM) if the judges feel the dog passed the required standard. 3. Novice Stake is confined to Dogs that have not been placed first, second, third or fourth in an Open or Championship Stake or have won three Novice Stakes prior to the date of the closing of entries. 4. Open Stake is for Dogs without restriction as to age or previous performance. For an Open Stake to carry championship status, the minimum number of dogs to participate in the Trial shall be eight. Other Gundog breeds may enter the above stakes but cannot be placed.
